REVIEW- The new OnePlus 6 phone, that was announced less than a month ago, is already being sold out in the U.S. and U.K. markets. Arriving only six months after the release of the OnePlus 5T, the new phone has new features such as an updated operating system, more internal storage and a new exterior design. The new device is said to be major competition to other Android devices, and the brand prides itself on the new phone’s performance and speed.

Design This is one of the major advancements made to the OnePlus phone that sets it apart from previous models. The device shows off a more appealing exterior, changing from the metallic bland and square-like shape to a more exciting design. The OnePlus device now features a curved glass back allowing for a more comfortable feel in users’ hands. The phone still uses a USB-C port to charge and has managed to make the phone slim without giving up the headphone jack. The phone has also changed to make the front display a little bit bigger, as they have added a notch to the device instead of keeping a long, thin bar at the top just like the OnePlus 5T had. This has allowed the display to move from 6.01 inches to 6.28 inches and making it go from 1880 by 2160 pixels to a 1880 by 2280 pixel display. The camera quality has not changed much from the previous OnePlus phone. However, one disadvantage of the OnePlus 6 is its range of colours. The brand still offers the phone in three colors (Midnight Black, Mirror Black and Silk White) but the Lava Red shade that was offered for the OnePlus 5T is not offered for the OnePlus 6, leaving users who prefer more vibrant colours forced to buy a black or white phone. Software The graphics processing unit has gone from an Adreno 540 to an Adreno 630, improving the phone’s image rendering, animations and overall display of the phone’s screen. The OnePlus brand has increased the storage of the phone significantly, changing from 128 gigabytes to 256 gigabytes. This is a major improvement on the phone because the OnePlus 6 does not include a slot for a memory card. Giving consumers an option between 128 and 256 gigabytes allows users who typically use more space on their phones to include more content on their own devices. In terms of the battery of the phone, the OnePlus 6 has the same amount of power as the OnePlus battery at 3300 Milliamp hours. The phone also offers depth charging, enabling users to charge their phone at a faster rate. The new phone also gives the user an option to use both face and fingerprint sensors for features such as unlocking the phone or buying an app or game from the play store. The OnePlus brand did face backlash after announcing a week prior to the launch of the phone that the new model would have a notch similar to the iPhone X and the Huawei P20 Pro. In response, the phone offers an option which allows the user to hide the notch, making the top part of the phone look similar to the previous 5T model. The OnePlus 6 has been available since May 22 and can be bought on the OnePlus website. Currently, only the Midnight Black and Mirror Black phones are available for purchase; the Silk White phone is said to be limited edition and will only be out starting June 6. The 128 gigabyte version of the OnePlus 6 can be purchased for $579 and the 256 gigabyte version can be bought for $629.
